Who We Are

Muncie Resists is an Indivisible group in East Central Indiana. We work at the state and local level to encourage a more progressive and inclusive future for Indiana through civic engagement and by pressuring elected officials to listen to their constituents. Our signature events are our voter education series and our educational town halls and teach-ins. We have hosted town halls or teach-ins on health care, redistricting, racial issues, reproductive rights, the Green New Deal, and the impact of Covid-19 on Delaware County, sometimes in partnership with other local organizations.

Our Priorities

Education

We believe in equitable public education for all. To that end, we have hosted multiple events on educational issues.

"There can be no liberation without education."

-Angela Davis

Advocacy

Muncie Resists advocates for a wide range of progressive issues. We have provided Black Lives Matters signs to hundreds of homes in our community. We have held rallies, marches, and postcard writing events, among other things.

“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will."

-Frederick Douglas

Voter Engagement

We believe that every vote should count and that voters should choose their elected officials and not the other way around. We believe in free and fair elections. We advocate the passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021.

We aim therefore to help residents of Delaware County vote and know who and what they're voting for.

"Democracy is not just the right to vote, it is the right to live in dignity."

-Naomi Klein

By day, she helps students fall in love with public speaking and refine their interpersonal skills, equipping them with the confidence to use their voices effectively.

Outside the classroom, Mary is committed to grassroots organizing and civic engagement. She leads communication, de-escalation, and conflict resolution trainings, hoping individuals and organizations can navigate tough conversations productively. When not working with students or organizing, Mary enjoys time with friends, family, and her unapologetically misbehaved pups.
